Forced Deportations Loom as Afghanistani Migrant Cards Expire in Pakistan
DID Press: The validity of Pakistan’s PoR (Proof of Registration) cards for Afghanistani migrants is set to expire on Monday, September 1. Pakistan Ministry of Interior said holders of these cards will face forced repatriation to Afghanistan following the expiration.

UNHCR data indicate that around 1.4 million Afghanistani migrants in Pakistan hold PoR cards.
UN experts have expressed serious concern about the consequences of this decision, warning that forced returns can place Afghanistani migrants and their families in extremely difficult circumstances.
Experts urged Pakistan to immediately suspend the deportation process and honor its international refugee obligations.
