DID Press: Psychological toll of Gaza war has once again come into focus after the body of an Israeli reserve soldier was found in his home—a phenomenon that has become a growing challenge for the Israeli military.
Army Radio reported that the soldier’s body was discovered at his residence in Rehovot, south of Tel Aviv.
According to the report, suicide is suspected, particularly given the increasing trend of self-inflicted deaths among Israeli troops, especially reservists returning from the Gaza front.
The Hebrew-language outlet noted that at least 25 Israeli service members, including two police officers, have died by suicide since the beginning of this year.
Figures from Israeli internal sources show that more than 57 soldiers took their own lives in 2023 through early September, a number that has raised serious alarms within the country’s security institutions.
