Zelensky Says will Step Down after War Ends

DID Press: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a recent interview that he plans to leave office once the war with Russia is over.

Speaking to Axios, Zelensky stressed that his only priority is ending the conflict and securing peace, not holding on to power. “I seek peace and security for the Ukrainian people. Once the war ends, I will have no desire to continue the responsibilities of the presidency,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader added that he never pursued power for personal gain and intends to hand over responsibility after Ukraine secures victory against Russia. While he gave no timeline for when the war might conclude, Zelensky expressed hope that Ukraine would eventually return to rebuilding and development under new leadership.
