Pakistan Reports Rising Insecurity after Taliban Takeover of Afghanistan
DID Press: Pakistan’s FM and Deputy PM, Ishaq Dar, told the country’s Senate that security incidents have increased since the Taliban assumed power in Afghanistan.

Criticizing Islamabad’s past policies toward Afghanistan, Dar said the situation in Pakistan has worsened following the Taliban’s rise in Kabul. Referring to a 2021 visit by the head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to Kabul, he said: “Having tea in Kabul came at a heavy price for Pakistan; it was a major mistake and should not be repeated.”
Dar added that cross-border attacks and insecurity have escalated in Pakistan’s tribal areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province since the change of government in Afghanistan.
Taliban officials have consistently rejected these claims, saying Pakistan’s security issues are rooted in internal challenges. Kabul has repeatedly emphasized that Afghan territory will not be used against neighboring countries.
