US Media Warns: TTP’s Expansion from Afghanistan Triggers Regional Security Alarm
DID Press: An American analytical outlet has warned in a new report that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), by relying on sanctuaries in Afghanistan and recruiting foreign nationals, is transforming into a transnational actor with serious security implications for the region.

According to the report, TTP has expanded its operations beyond Pakistan’s borders, exploiting low-governance areas in Afghanistan to strengthen its networks. The analysis claims that in recent years, the group has successfully recruited foreign citizens and built a multilayered regional network.
The publication highlights a recent video of three masked Bangladeshi men issuing threats against Pakistani security forces, interpreting it as evidence of non-Pakistani militants actively integrating into TTP’s operational structure.
The authors argue that foreign recruitment has now evolved from ideological support into direct participation in armed operations.
The report states that certain remote and lightly governed areas of Afghanistan have become hubs for TTP-linked groups to coordinate and operate, creating conditions for the group’s wider expansion across South Asia.
In Pakistan, incidents such as the neutralization of a Bangladeshi operative in Karak city in September 2025 are cited as signs of intensified efforts to counter TTP’s cross-border penetration.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi security agencies have expressed concern over the group’s presence in their country, referencing arrests such as those of Dr. Shamin Mahfuz and Ahmed Fiyaz.
Despite these allegations, the Taliban authorities have repeatedly denied the presence of terrorist groups on Afghan soil, insisting they will not allow any group to use Afghanistan against neighboring countries. They maintain that any such claims contradict their official policy and are subject to internal security review.
