Pre-Christian Era Archaeological Site Discovered in Laghman

DID Press: Officials from the Taliban-run Directorate of Information and Culture in Laghman province announced the discovery of an ancient archaeological site dating back to the pre-Christian era in Si-Tan village, located in the Sao Valley of Alinegar district.

The site was identified during a field survey conducted by a delegation led by the provincial director of Information and Culture, with the cooperation of local residents. Several historical artifacts were also uncovered during the inspection.

According to the head of the department for the protection of historical sites in Laghman, the area includes a stone staircase, 12 hand-carved chambers, and other architectural features indicative of ancient construction techniques, confirming its origin in the pre-Christian period.

Officials noted that similar archaeological sites have previously been discovered in different parts of Laghman province, yielding significant historical remains.

Despite the identification of numerous ancient sites across Afghanistan, authorities acknowledged that effective monitoring and protection of these locations remain limited, raising concerns about preservation and potential damage.
