UNICEF: Gaza War Pushes Education System on Brink of Collapse
DID Press: A UNICEF spokesperson in Palestine reported that 98 percent of schools in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or completely destroyed due to the ongoing war. Over 638,000 children have lost access to classrooms as a result of widespread destruction of educational facilities.

The spokesperson warned that unexploded ordnance in residential areas and around schools poses a serious threat to children’s safe return to education.
Since the outbreak of hostilities in October 2023, no educational supplies or equipment have reached Gaza, creating the biggest barrier to restoring learning. UNICEF also reported that approximately 1,000 education staff and nearly 20,000 students have been killed during the conflict, highlighting the catastrophic impact on Gaza’s education system.
