UN OCHA Warns of $190.8m Health Funding Gap for Afghanistan in 2026
DID Press: UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says an estimated 14.4 million people in Afghanistan will require health services in 2026, warning that critical funding is needed to sustain lifesaving care.

According to OCHA, humanitarian health plans aim to reach 7.2 million people next year. Children make up 54 percent of those targeted, followed by women at 24 percent and people with disabilities at 10 percent—groups identified as among the most vulnerable in the country.
OCHA estimates that $190.8 million will be required to implement planned health interventions and maintain essential services across Afghanistan.
The agency cautioned that without adequate funding, millions could lose access to vital healthcare, further deepening the country’s humanitarian crisis amid ongoing economic hardship and strained public services.
