Pakistan JUI Leader Urges Improved Ties with Neighboring States

DID Press: Leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema‑i‑Islam party condemned the country’s foreign policy as unacceptable and called for improved relations with neighboring countries, stressing the importance of respecting the views of all political parties and leaders.

At a joint press conference, Hafiz Naeem, leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat‑e‑Islam party, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of Jamiat Ulema‑i‑Islam, said they do not support Pakistan’s current foreign policy and urged Islamabad to strengthen diplomatic ties with all neighboring countries.

Fazlur Rehman criticized Pakistan’s relations with India, Afghanistan, China, and Iran, and also expressed concern over the United States using Pakistan as a proxy force. He called for fundamental changes in Pakistan’s foreign policy approach.

“If there are individuals capable of improving bilateral relations, they should be prepared for negotiations so that Muslim brothers and Islamic countries are protected from regional threats,” he said.

He added that respecting the views of all political parties and policymakers is the only way to enhance Pakistan’s regional relationships and help ensure stability and peace.
