Uzbekistan, JICA Step Up Regional Cooperation Focused on Afghanistan
DID Press: Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held talks with Sota Tosaka, head of the Afghanistan office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JCA), to expand regional cooperation with a focus on Afghanistan.

According to reports, the meeting explored deeper Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation on Afghanistan-related projects, as well as mechanisms to strengthen regional coordination. The discussions come as Afghanistan continues to require coordinated regional and international support to advance infrastructure and economic development.
The two sides emphasized practical steps to ensure effective coordination among stakeholders, create conducive conditions for the operations of JICA’s Afghanistan office, and reinforce institutional partnerships linked to Afghanistan-focused development initiatives.
Observers say closer coordination between Tashkent and JICA could improve the effectiveness of development and humanitarian programmes in Afghanistan and strengthen the role of regional actors in supporting the country’s stability and reconstruction.
