Iran Offers Guaranteed Purchases of Afghan Agricultural and Livestock Products

DID Press: Iran–Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce said Tehran is ready to offer guaranteed purchases of agricultural and livestock products from Afghanistan, underlining efforts to expand economic cooperation between the two countries.

Mahmoud Siyyadat, head of the joint chamber, said Afghanistan exports to Iran rose by 156% over the past nine months. He said deeper coordination between the private sector and the governments of both countries could multiply bilateral trade volumes.

Siyyadat cited Afghanistan’s potential in agriculture, horticulture, livestock farming, cotton, pulses and fresh meat as key drivers of job creation and reduced migration pressures, adding that Iran’s guaranteed purchase mechanism could help stabilize farmers’ incomes, strengthen Afghanistan’s domestic markets and support broader economic recovery.
