Kabul–Riyadh Call Urges De-escalation and Stronger Ties

DID Press: Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of Afghanistan’s Taliban administration, held a phone call with Prince Faisal bin Farhan, foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Muttaqi pointed to decades of war and instability in Afghanistan, stressing that Kabul seeks constructive relations with all countries based on mutual respect. He said Afghanistan harbors no hostile intent toward any state and that recent security measures were taken solely for defensive purposes and to stabilize the situation.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the need to de-escalate regional tensions and resolve disputes through diplomacy. He expressed hope that all parties would adhere to the principles of mutual respect, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He also welcomed Kabul’s stated commitment to dialogue and political solutions, assuring that Saudi Arabia would continue its efforts to support peace and stability.
