Taliban FM: Military Actions Against Pakistan Defend National Sovereignty

DID Press: Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan, said recent military actions against Pakistan were carried out solely to defend Afghanistan’s airspace, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Speaking at a joint meeting in Kabul with foreign diplomats, representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, and other international bodies, Muttaqi addressed the latest border tensions between the two countries.

He argued that Pakistan has chosen “force and confrontation” instead of political solutions to manage its internal crises, adding that pressure and coercion historically fail to resolve conflicts and instead strengthen resistance.

According to the Afghan foreign minister, Islamabad is attempting to pressure Afghanistan into accepting its demands, but should reconsider its calculations. He concluded by stating that the Afghan people have never yielded to external pressure and remain prepared to make sacrifices to preserve their country’s independence.
