Afghan Islamic Council Chief Calls Support for Iran a Religious Duty

DID Press: Habibullah Hessam, head of the Afghanistan Islamic Brotherhood Council, declared that standing alongside the people and government of Iran under current circumstances is an individual religious obligation (“فرض عین”) for all Muslims.

In a message posted on his personal page on the social media platform X, Hessam called on the entire Islamic community to support the Iranian nation and government.

Referring to the sensitive regional situation, he described support for Iran not merely as a political stance but as a religious responsibility, framing it as an example of “cooperation in righteousness and piety.”

Hessam further stated that such support could be evaluated within the framework of concepts such as worship and jihad, urging Muslims to remain vigilant against what he described as “divisive conspiracies.”

The council leader also warned that fueling sectarian tensions between Sunni and Shia Muslims serves the interests of anti-Islamic and Zionist movements, and he called on the Islamic community to avoid falling into such traps.
