Al-Mirsaad: Pakistan Had No Real Mediation Role in Iran–US Talks

DID Press: A reported 21-hour round of Iran–US talks held in Islamabad ended without any breakthrough, according to media claims citing a Taliban-linked outlet.

The website Al-Mirsaad reported that the negotiations between the Iran and the United States concluded without results and that Pakistan did not act as an independent mediator.

According to the report, Pakistan’s role in the talks was limited and conducted only at the request of the United States, rather than as a formal or autonomous intermediary.

The outlet further claimed that Islamabad had no official mandate to mediate and exerted little influence over the negotiation process.

No official reaction has been issued by the Taliban regarding the reported talks, despite growing regional tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent months over border and political disputes.

Analysts note that competing diplomatic narratives in the region continue to reflect broader geopolitical rivalries, including parallel efforts by other actors such as China to reduce tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

The report concluded that the discussions were not a genuine peace process but rather an exploratory effort to manage future tensions and assess shifting regional dynamics.
