Kazakhstan Plans to Raise Trade With Afghanistan to $3B
DID Press: Kazakhstan has announced plans to increase its trade volume with Afghanistan from around $500 million to $3 billion in the coming years, according to officials and local media reports.

Kazakh authorities have unveiled new initiatives aimed at expanding economic cooperation with Afghanistan, with the primary goal of significantly boosting bilateral trade from its current level of approximately $500 million to $3 billion in the near future.
Officials said one of the key obstacles to trade expansion between the two countries is the lack of sufficient transport routes and logistical infrastructure. They stressed that investment in transit and transportation networks is essential to achieving the targeted growth.
In this context, the Turgundi–Herat railway project has been highlighted as a key initiative that could facilitate cargo movement and strengthen trade connectivity between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.
Kazakh officials also described Afghanistan as an important and strategic transit route that could link Central Asia to major markets in South Asia and the Middle East.
