DID Press: Delegations linked to Afghanistan and Pakistan have reached a preliminary security understanding in Istanbul, with talks centered on countering militant groups including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS.

According to informed sources, several rounds of intensive informal negotiations concluded with a draft agreement outlining potential coordination on security issues. Pakistan reportedly pushed for decisive action against TTP and its formal designation as a terrorist organization, while discussions also addressed ISIS activities within Afghanistan.
The draft text has not been officially released and still awaits approval from Taliban leadership, leaving its future uncertain.
The talks come amid rising border tensions and increased cross-border attacks in recent months, adding urgency to efforts for a shared security framework. Recent clashes, reportedly resulting in casualties on both sides, have underscored the need for coordination.
Despite the preliminary progress, analysts caution that deep-rooted mistrust and differing approaches to armed groups could complicate efforts to turn the draft into a formal and enforceable agreement.
