At least 30 were killed and 17 more wounded as a passenger bus hit a roadside bomb on Wednesday morning in Herat-Kandahar highway, according to reports.
The incident has reportedly occurred in Shawaz and Abkhurma area along Herat-Farah border around 8:00 am (local time).
Eyewitnesses say the passenger bus was traveling from Nimruz to western Herat province.
Although local officials have not commented yet, eyewitnesses said that 34 people, who are all civilians were killed in the incident and at least 17 others were wounded.
The conflict in Afghanistan continues to have a devastating impact on civilians, with the latest UN update released Tuesday documenting 3,812 civilian casualties (1,366 deaths and 2,446 injured) in the first half of 2019.
