Afghanistan Rail Network Moves Over 429,000 Tons of Goods in One Week

DID Press: Ministry of Public Works (Taliban) announced that 429,536 metric tons of goods were transported via the country’s rail network between April 24–30, with the highest volume recorded at the Hairatan border terminal.

According to the report, four major railway ports were active during the week. Hairatan handled 158,133 tons, followed by Aqina with 21,797 tons, Torghundi with 19,195 tons, and the Khaf–Herat railway line with 3,041 tons.

The ministry also confirmed that 2,264 tons of goods were exported via the Torghundi route during the same period.

Officials said efforts are ongoing to improve railway infrastructure, streamline trade logistics, and facilitate smoother transport operations for traders across the country.
