Afghanistan Urges China to Accelerate Work on Mes Aynak Copper Project
DID Press: Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (Taliban) has called on Chinese officials and contracting companies to speed up implementation of the Mes Aynak copper project and ensure timely fulfillment of contractual obligations.

According to the ministry, Mullah Hidayatullah Badri met with Zhao Xing and representatives of Chinese contracting firms to review progress and examine the causes of delays in the project.
Badri stressed the economic and strategic importance of the Mes Aynak project, urging strict adherence to the contract terms and the original timeline. He called on Chinese companies to increase operational capacity and improve management to accelerate implementation.
In response, company representatives provided updates on current progress and assured Afghan officials that corrective measures are being taken to address delays and improve efficiency in the next phases of development.
The Ministry of Mines described the meeting as part of broader efforts by the Taliban administration to activate major extraction projects and strengthen economic cooperation with China.
