Construction of a Large Cargo Terminal to Begin at Hairatan Crossroads in Balkh Province

DIDPress: The Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the Taliban government has announced that the construction of a standard cargo terminal will soon begin at the Hairatan crossroads in Balkh province. This project, for which a budget of approximately 850 million Afghanis has been allocated, will significantly increase the country’s commercial transportation capacity.

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the Taliban government stated in a press release that the implementation process of the cargo terminal construction project at the strategic point of the Hairatan crossroads in Balkh province will begin shortly. The ministry cited the objectives of establishing this facility as improving cargo management, facilitating the transit process, and increasing commercial transport capacity.

According to the ministry’s information, 850 million Afghanis from the development budget have been allocated for the execution of this project, and its technical and design works have been finalized. According to ministry officials, upon completion, this terminal will be equipped with loading and unloading areas, standard warehouses, parking for cargo vehicles, and modern surveillance systems.

Ministry of Transport officials emphasized that the location of the Hairatan crossroads, as one of the country’s most important commercial crossings, plays a key role in connecting Afghanistan with Central Asia, and the establishment of this terminal can significantly increase the speed and quality of transit services.

They also stated that with the operationalization of this project, employment opportunities will be provided for dozens of people, and the cargo management capacity in the north of the country will be upgraded to an unprecedented level.
