Mass Deportation of Afghan Migrants Reported in Tajikistan

DID Press: Media reports from Tajikistan say that between 200 and 250 Afghan migrants have been expelled from their homes in the Sughd region and transferred to an undisclosed location following the arrest of an Afghan national accused of killing a woman.

According to local reports, Tajik security forces removed a group of Afghan migrants from their residences in Khujand after the arrest of the suspect linked to the murder case.

No official information has been released regarding the migrants’ current whereabouts. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the individuals may have been deported to Afghanistan, although neither Tajik authorities nor the Taliban administration have confirmed the claim.

The reported expulsions have raised concerns among human rights activists and international organizations over the treatment and legal status of Afghan migrants in neighboring countries.

So far, Taliban officials have not publicly reacted to the incident, and it remains unclear whether any measures will be taken to support the affected migrants.
