DID Press: American television host and political analyst Joe Scarborough has compared Donald Trump’s handling of tensions with Iran to former President Joe Biden’s controversial withdrawal from Afghanistan, warning that current policies could hand Tehran enormous leverage over the global economy.

Speaking on the Morning Joe program on MSNBC, Scarborough said Trump underestimated the risks of confrontation with Iran, ignored military advice, and entered a crisis that “has no easy exit.”
He warned that if Iran maintains effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, it would represent a major geopolitical defeat for Washington and strengthen rivals such as China and Russia.
Scarborough also criticized what he described as assumptions within U.S. policy circles that the confrontation could be resolved quickly, saying: “This is Iran — you cannot simply move past it.”
The analyst further argued that many American military commanders had repeatedly warned about the potential consequences of escalation with Iran, but those warnings were ignored.
He compared the situation to the Afghanistan withdrawal, saying military officials had also cautioned Biden about the risks before the collapse of the former Afghan government.
Scarborough concluded by warning that any prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could allow Iran to gain unprecedented influence over global trade and energy markets.
