Kabul Signs $46M Deal With Indian Company to Build Quality Control Laboratories
DID Press: Authorities in Kabul have signed a $46 million agreement with an Indian company to establish and equip standardized laboratories across the country’s main trade routes and border crossings.

The National Standards and Quality Authority of Afghanistan announced that the five-year contract was signed with the Indian firm “TRC” to develop modern laboratory complexes in Kabul and nine key border and commercial points.
Officials say the project will include advanced testing equipment for construction materials, electrical goods, textiles, leather products, and paper goods.
The agreement also covers modernization of existing facilities, installation of new laboratory systems, and technical training for Afghan personnel. Plans for obtaining international ISO certifications are also included.
Taliban officials described the project as part of broader efforts to strengthen quality control systems, prevent the import of substandard goods, and improve Afghanistan’s trade infrastructure.
The agreement comes at a time when intermittent tensions between Taliban forces and Pakistan have disrupted regional trade routes and led to temporary closures of key border crossings in recent months.
