UAE–Israel Tensions Rise After Leak of Netanyahu’s Secret Visit

DID Press: Relations between United Arab Emirates and Israel have reportedly entered a new phase of tension after Israeli media disclosed details of an alleged secret visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Abu Dhabi.

Hebrew-language media outlets reported that the UAE sent a strongly worded protest message to Tel Aviv following the leak, criticizing repeated security and diplomatic information disclosures from the Israeli prime minister’s office.

According to Israel’s i24 News, Emirati officials warned that previous leaks involving Israeli officials had already contributed to reduced direct engagement with Netanyahu in recent years.

The dispute intensified after Israeli reports claimed that Israel’s military chief had also conducted a covert visit to Abu Dhabi days earlier. Analysts described the disclosure as “adding fuel to the fire” at a sensitive moment in regional diplomacy.

The controversy emerged after Netanyahu’s office stated that he had secretly visited the UAE during the recent military crisis involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Abu Dhabi swiftly rejected the claim, calling reports of any recent Israeli officials’ visits “completely false.”

Regional analysts say the incident may signal growing strains in relations between the UAE and Israel, despite the extensive political, security, and economic cooperation established under the 2020 Abraham Accords.
