US Has No Winning Card in “Ramadan War”

DID Press: The Atlantic reports in an analysis by Robert Kagan that the United States has entered a strategic deadlock in its confrontation with Iran, with no viable or low-cost exit strategy remaining.

The analysis argues that Washington’s inability to achieve decisive results in recent military and economic pressure campaigns has significantly weakened its global position. It claims that even sustained military escalation or economic coercion is unlikely to force Tehran into concessions.

According to the report, Iran’s demonstrated resilience during weeks of sustained strikes has shifted the regional balance of power in the Gulf. The analysis highlights that continued pressure could trigger broader retaliation against energy infrastructure in the region, potentially destabilizing global oil and gas supplies.

It further notes that Iran’s strategic leverage over the Strait of Hormuz is now a central factor in global energy security, describing it as a stronger bargaining tool than the nuclear program itself. The report warns that this shift could reshape alliances in the Middle East and weaken the long-standing security framework led by the United States.

The analysis concludes that Washington faces increasing pressure to reconsider its long-term posture in the region, as continued confrontation risks deeper strategic setbacks and broader geopolitical consequences involving China and Russia.
