Iran Launches Nationwide Update of Afghan Migrants’ Registration Data
DID Press: Ministry of Interior Iran has begun a nationwide process to update identification records and renew residency documents for Afghan nationals residing in the country.

The initiative, which started on April 7 /2026, applies to holders of valid residency cards, including Amayesh Card 19, temporary cards 1–5, and individuals with authorized transit documents. Applicants with census slips or family passports are excluded from this phase.
Authorities said the process must be completed before (June 2026), warning that delays could disrupt access to banking, insurance, and other essential services.
The procedure includes appointment registration per household, card printing fees, technical verification costs, and administrative charges. Additional municipal fees vary by province and family size. Individuals over 18 must also pay separate fees for work permit renewals or issuance.
Only one adult family member is required for booking appointments, while households with medical or disability cases must declare their status during registration. On the appointment date, the head of household must be present with all family members’ documentation.
Required documents include valid residency cards or transit permits, postal code details, phone numbers, national registration data for adults in Iran, insurance certificates, and tracking codes from relevant administrative systems.
Officials say the program aims to streamline migrant records and ensure continuity of public services, urging eligible residents to complete procedures within the designated timeframe.
