Afghanistan–Tatarstan Halal Trade Surges 45% Amid Kazan Expo

DID Press: Kazan Halal International Exhibition has opened in Russia with strong participation from Afghan companies, highlighting expanding economic ties between Afghanistan and the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.

Around 100 companies from Afghanistan, Russia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and other countries are taking part in the event. More than 30 Afghan firms are showcasing halal-certified products including food items, clothing, cosmetics, and handicrafts, marking one of their largest presences in the expo.

Officials say Afghanistan is increasingly positioning itself within the growing global halal market, using the exhibition as a platform to expand exports and regional trade partnerships.

At the same time, economic data from Tatarstan shows a significant rise in trade with Afghanistan. During the first four months of the current year, Afghanistan imported more than $30 million worth of goods from Tatarstan—an increase of roughly 45% compared to the same period last year.

Analysts say this growth reflects deepening commercial ties, with Afghanistan emerging as a key market for Tatarstan’s halal food and industrial exports.
