Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Independent Palestinian State at UN

DID Press: Pakistan has once again reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent Palestine based on the 1967 borders during remarks delivered at the United Nations.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad made the remarks during events marking the anniversary of the “Nakba,” describing the humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip as a “new Nakba” caused by continued conflict, occupation, settlement expansion, and escalating settler violence.

The Pakistani envoy criticized Israeli policies in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, warning that ongoing military operations and settlement activity are undermining prospects for peace and worsening the humanitarian crisis.

He stressed that the international community should not remain indifferent and called for effective measures to halt violence and end the occupation.

Pakistan also reaffirmed its longstanding support for a two-state solution, stating that the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders remains the only viable path toward lasting regional peace.

Islamabad further emphasized that Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of a future Palestinian state under any final agreement.
