Afghanistan Passport Rises 13 Places in Global Ranking

DID Press: Afghanistan’s passport has moved up 13 positions in the latest global passport index, improving from rank 116 in 2021 to 103 worldwide.

The General Passport Directorate announced that the Afghan passport has recorded a notable improvement in international mobility rankings, marking a better standing among global passports.

According to the authority, the change has also been confirmed in the Henley Passport Index, which tracks passport strength based on travel access and visa-free mobility.

Officials at the Directorate said service delivery has improved compared to previous years, adding that efforts continue to provide faster, more transparent, and standardized passport services.

They noted that in past years—particularly during the former republican administration—the Afghanistan passport consistently ranked among the weakest in the world in terms of global mobility.
