Afghanistan Embassy in Kuwait Transferred to Taliban Control
DID Press: Afghanistan Embassy in Kuwait has been handed over to a diplomat appointed by the Taliban, according to informed sources, marking the latest transfer of an Afghan diplomatic mission to Taliban control.

Sources said Mawlawi Mohammad Shafiq Khatib has begun work as the Taliban’s new representative in Kuwait. He previously served as head of consular affairs and border affairs at the Taliban-run Foreign Ministry. He replaces Sayed Jawed Hashemi, the ambassador appointed by Afghanistan’s former government.
The development comes amid growing debate over efforts by some countries to normalize relations with the Taliban. Critics argue that transferring embassies and accepting Taliban diplomats amounts to granting political legitimacy to the group despite concerns over human rights, restrictions on women, and limits on civil liberties.
The Taliban have gradually assumed control of several Afghan diplomatic missions in regional countries and parts of the Arab world.
Political analysts say the transfer of embassies to Taliban-appointed officials could have significant implications for Afghan migrants, Afghanistan’s foreign relations, and future diplomatic engagement.
