DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said early Saturday that it launched ballistic missile strikes against U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain following what it described as an attempted unauthorized departure of four oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and subsequent U.S. drone attacks on targets in southern Iran.

According to an IRGC statement, four tankers allegedly attempted to leave the Strait of Hormuz “under the direction and encouragement of the U.S. military” without coordination and despite warnings issued by Iranian naval forces. The statement claimed that one tanker was struck and halted after ignoring warnings, while the other three vessels retreated.
The IRGC further alleged that at approximately 2:00 a.m., U.S. drones targeted telecommunications towers in Qeshm Island and Sirik. In response, it said the IRGC Aerospace Force launched ballistic missiles at Ali Al Salem Air Base and sections of facilities associated with the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
In the final section of the statement, the IRGC warned that any further U.S. actions would trigger a broader response, adding that responsibility for any consequences—including the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz—would rest with Washington.
The claims were made by the IRGC and had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.
