Herat Governor Travels to Kabul for Talks on Infrastructure and Trade Projects

The governor’s office said on Saturday that the visit aims to discuss progress on key development projects in Herat and strengthen coordination with central authorities.
According to the statement, the discussions will focus on increasing imports and exports through the Islam Qala Border Crossing, expanding the Herat industrial city, and addressing logistical and transportation challenges affecting trade flows.
The visit comes at a time when Herat has recently witnessed protests and heightened tensions linked to demonstrations by women, drawing national and international attention to the province’s security and political situation.
Officials have not provided further details on the duration of the visit or the outcomes expected from the meetings in Kabul.
