Amnesty International Warns of Rising Deportation Risk for Afghan Migrants

DID Press: Amnesty International has warned that millions of Afghan migrants worldwide are facing an increasing risk of deportation and forced return, amid growing concerns over migration policies in several countries.

The rights organization said Afghan migrants in some host countries have been subjected to arbitrary detention, family separation, and other forms of hardship. It added that those returned to Afghanistan often face severe humanitarian challenges and are exposed to the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Amnesty International stressed that unlawful deportations must be halted and that individuals in need of international protection should be safeguarded in accordance with international human rights and refugee law.

The organization called on governments to uphold their legal obligations toward asylum seekers and refugees, emphasizing that returns should not take place when individuals face serious risks to their safety, rights, or well-being.
