Delawar: Collapse of Taliban Rule Would Push Afghanistan into Chaos

DID Press: Shahabuddin Delawar has warned that the collapse of the current Taliban administration would lead Afghanistan into crisis, disorder, and widespread lawlessness, insisting that no alternative system exists to replace the present government.

Speaking at a gathering in Kabul on Saturday (6 Saratan), Delawar said the Taliban had, for the first time in 48 years, managed to eliminate divisions and unite the country under a single authority.

Responding to criticism over power centralization, he said the government is “not only for the mullahs,” while rejecting calls for an inclusive administration.

He questioned previous political structures, arguing that earlier systems were also not democratic and were often based on hereditary or factional leadership.

Delawar further claimed that the Taliban have ended what he described as “local power islands,” saying that in the past some provincial officials resisted central authority, whereas now all orders from the leadership are strictly followed.

He also asserted that security has been restored nationwide and claimed that around 190,000 tourists visited Panjshir Province over the past year, a region he said was previously inaccessible.

Addressing the issue of international non-recognition, Delawar said even if he were in the position of US officials, he would not recognize the Taliban government, arguing that Washington has not forgotten its defeat in Afghanistan.

He concluded by urging Afghan political figures living abroad to return to the country, adding that even if they do not, “nothing significant will happen” and the Taliban administration will continue to function.
