TTP Commander Killed in Ghazni Shooting

DID Press: A commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan has been killed in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province after being shot by unidentified gunmen, local sources said.

According to reports, Khalid Masood, a TTP commander, was attacked around midnight on Thursday while leaving a local camp in the Godlo area of Waghaz district in Ghazni Province and died at the scene.

Sources said this marks the second deadly attack against TTP members in Afghanistan in recent days. Last week, another member of the group was killed in Kandahar province in a separate shooting by motorbike gunmen.

The Taliban authorities have not yet commented on the incidents.

The TTP, formed in 2007 as an umbrella of militant groups in Pakistan’s tribal regions, is designated as a terrorist organization by Islamabad and has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban administration of harboring TTP members, while the Taliban deny the presence of any terrorist groups in Afghanistan and describe TTP activity as Pakistan’s internal issue.
