Kazakh Envoy Says Afghanistan Poses No Regional Security Threat

DID Press: Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Afghanistan has said the country poses no security threat to neighboring states, including Pakistan, stressing that a stable Afghanistan can contribute to greater regional cooperation and security.

The ambassador said no threats are emanating from Afghan territory toward regional countries and noted that lasting stability in Afghanistan would help strengthen economic, trade, and transit cooperation across the region.

He emphasized that relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan are based on mutual respect and shared interests, adding that Astana supports expanding cooperation with Kabul.

The envoy also clarified that although Kazakhstan maintains bilateral engagement with the Taliban-led administration, it has not formally recognized the interim government.

He added that dialogue and cooperation between the two sides continue across various sectors.

Commenting on international policy toward Afghanistan, the ambassador argued that sanctions are not an effective solution to the country’s challenges and urged the international community to pursue engagement and dialogue instead of pressure and isolation.

According to the ambassador, constructive cooperation with Afghanistan could contribute to broader regional peace and security.
