DID Press: Iranian authorities say around 2,500 Afghan pilgrims are expected to travel to Mashhad to attend the funeral and mourning ceremonies for the late “Martyr Leader,” with seven-day visas issued and accommodation arrangements completed.

Jamshidi, the governor of Taybad, said the arrival of Afghan pilgrims has increased ahead of the ceremonies, noting that approximately 2,500 Afghan nationals are expected to enter Iran to participate in the religious events.

He said seven-day visas have been issued for the visitors, with arrivals beginning this week. Around 100 pilgrims have already entered Iran through the Taybad border crossing.

According to the governor, Iran’s General Directorate for Foreign Nationals has coordinated accommodation in Mashhad, with lodging facilities prepared for the incoming pilgrims.

Jamshidi added that all relevant authorities are on full alert to ensure the orderly entry, reception, and accommodation of the visitors.
