3 Historical Pots Unearthed During Grave Digging in Helmand

DID Press: Three ancient pots have been discovered during grave excavation at a cemetery linked to the historical Bost Fortress in Lashkargah city of Helmand, officials said.

Local authorities reported that the artifacts were found when residents were digging a grave in the Bost Castle cemetery area and were subsequently handed over to Taliban security officials.

Mawlawi Sher Mohammad Wahdat said the items include three pottery vessels of different sizes, uncovered during the excavation and later transferred to unit 012 for the protection of historical sites.

He added that the 012 unit has committed to safeguarding historical sites, archaeological remains, and heritage monuments across Helmand to prevent damage or smuggling.

Local officials also stated that several individuals had previously been arrested in the same area over illegal excavation activities.
