DID Press: Fighting between Pakistani border forces and Taliban fighters has expanded from Khyber to Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, marking a second consecutive day of armed clashes along the disputed Durand Line.

Pakistani security sources said on Monday evening that exchanges of fire continued in the Khyber district, with both light and heavy weapons being used. Several border positions have reportedly been placed on high alert as tensions persist.
Meanwhile, local sources said fresh clashes erupted Monday night in the Dor Baba district of Nangarhar province along the Durand Line. According to the sources, the fighting began at around 8:30 p.m. local time and was ongoing at the time of reporting. The same area also witnessed an exchange of fire the previous night.
The earlier clashes in Khyber reportedly left three Pakistani border soldiers wounded, with one said to be in critical condition. No casualties have yet been confirmed in the latest fighting.
The escalation comes after Pakistan’s military leadership reiterated during a recent meeting in Rawalpindi that it would continue “targeted operations” against security threats allegedly originating from Afghan territory.
The Pakistani military has maintained that the Taliban authorities are responsible for preventing militant groups from using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.
In recent weeks, Pakistani officials have repeatedly expressed concern over increased cross-border attacks and militant activity along the Durand Line, warning that Islamabad will continue to pursue a policy of “decisive response” to threats originating across the border.
