South Asian University Halts Afghan Scholarships
DID Press: The South Asian University has suspended scholarships for Afghan students after Afghanistan failed to pay its financial contribution to the institution.

According to the The Times of India, South Asian University President K. K. Aggarwal said the decision followed objections from Bhutan over Afghanistan’s unpaid financial obligations to the university.
Aggarwal said that since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, the issue has remained unresolved because India does not officially recognize the country’s current authorities, making formal engagement difficult.
Under the decision, scholarship awards for Afghan students will remain suspended until the outstanding financial and administrative issues are resolved.
