Kandahar Residents Raise Concerns Over Rising Insecurity

DID Press: Some residents of Kandahar say the growing presence of armed individuals in civilian clothing and the establishment of checkpoints across the city have increased public concerns over security.

Residents told DID Press that distinguishing Taliban security forces from unauthorized armed individuals and criminals has become increasingly difficult, creating opportunities for abuse and misconduct.

They claim that armed robberies have also increased in recent months, while some armed individuals allegedly stop vehicles at night using green laser lights, causing drivers to believe they are being approached by security personnel.

Residents have called on Taliban authorities to ensure that security forces operate only in official uniforms and with clear identification marks in order to prevent abuse and restore public confidence.
