Islamic Revolution Leader: Revenge Is the Demand of Our Nation and It Will Certainly Be Carried Out

DID Press: Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a message issued on the occasion of the funeral and burial ceremony of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated:

“We pledge that we will take revenge for your pure blood (the Martyred Leader) and the blood of all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers. This revenge is the demand of our nation and it must certainly be carried out.”

The full text of the message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Greetings to the Imam whose life-giving call of uprising extended the great and resounding echo of the Prophetic mission deep into the distant history of the Muslim Ummah, and from whose influence the Islamic Revolution of Iran emerged.

A revolution that was fundamentally rooted in the path of Imam Hussein, built upon his slogan and his principles, and flourished through that very ideology.

The Martyred Leader of Iran also grew under the same school of thought. He was a follower of Hussein; he thought in the spirit of Hussein, moved in the path of Hussein, fought and resisted in the way of Hussein, lived as Hussein lived, and offered his blood in devotion to the school of Hussein, attaining martyrdom.

Among the followers of Hussein are those whose blood, when unjustly spilled in the path of Hussein and for the cause and principles of Hussein, peace be upon him, awakens the Islamic Ummah. At such a moment, that time becomes connected to Ashura, and that place becomes connected to Karbala.

Today, the same spirit of Hussein has revived our nation and given a new manifestation to the school of the Great Khomeini and the Martyred Khamenei.

This is the life-giving movement that, through the reflection of Hussein’s call of oppression and his cry of “Is there anyone to help me?”, peace be upon him, has risen in Iran and then in Iraq and other countries, shaking falsehood and injustice.

On this occasion, I sincerely express my gratitude for the astonishing, historic, and enemy-defying presence of tens of millions of people in the cities and villages of Iran and Iraq, particularly in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.

Our nation is a seeker of justice for Hussein. For years, this great nation has sacrificed its sons in the path of Hussein and in the struggle against the enemies of Hussein and his ideals. Today, it continues to seek justice for him and for the Hussainis of our time.

Now I address our martyred leader:

O oppressed martyr! O honored and victorious oppressed one! O righteous servant of God!

As we bid farewell to your body with tearful eyes and broken hearts, we make a covenant with you that we will preserve your school of thought, follow the straight path that you established with steadfastness, not fear hardships along this way, and place our trust, as you did, in the glad tidings and promises of God.

We pledge that we will take revenge for your pure blood and the blood of all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers.

This revenge is the demand of our nation and it will certainly be carried out.

These criminals, whose names and identities from the highest levels to the lowest have been documented, will carry the wish of a peaceful death in their beds to their graves.

They must know that this matter does not depend on my existence or the existence of other officials. Whether we are present or not, this mission will be fulfilled, and soon individuals among the free people across the world will each carry out a part of this divine mission.

O father of the martyred Ummah!

May the taste of martyrdom, which you had long wished for, be blessed for you.

May wearing the garment of martyrdom with a body bearing the signs of your mother, the pure Zahra, and your grandfather, Abu Abdullah al-Hussein, and Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace and blessings be upon them, be a source of honor for you.

And you, the oppressed companions of his, who were unexpectedly attacked by the enemy and attained martyrdom, blessed are you, for now you are guests of that Master whose mercy and kindness you may have experienced many times.

The one who is the gate of divine mercy for all people, especially for the people of this land, is now your host, and His secure presence has become your eternal home.

And you, O noble master! O great one! O compassionate Imam!

O Abu al-Hasan al-Reza al-Murtadha, may the greatest blessings of God be upon you.

Today, the broken body of one of your servants and a servant of the purified family, after years of tireless struggle, effort, and devotion, along with the bodies of martyrs from his family — each one a reminder of a martyr from the plain of Karbala — are laid to rest in this pure land.

They will remain here until the day when, by divine command, the radiant sun, His Eminence Baqiyatullah, may God hasten his noble reappearance, emerges from behind the clouds of occultation and spreads the light of divine mercy over the inhabitants of the earth.

On that day, which we hope will arrive very soon, stars among the truthful, martyrs, and saints will accompany him. We hope that our martyred leader will be among them and will once again display brilliant and pure scenes of devotion, struggle, and fulfillment of the eternal covenant.

Perhaps these companions will also accompany him on that day.

O Merciful Master!

We entrust our leader, who sacrificed everything in your path, and his martyred companions to you and your grace and kindness, so that just as they benefited from your mercy during their worldly lives, they may continue to enjoy it from now on — even greater and more abundant than before.

Finally, once again, we extend our condolences to our Master, His Eminence Baqiyatullah, may God hasten his noble reappearance, and we ask that this merciful one direct his blessed prayers toward the Martyred Leader of Iran, his martyred companions, and all martyrs.

We ask the Almighty God to grant all martyrs the highest ranks, to give patience and reward to their families, and to grant the oppressed people of Iran a certain and near victory and triumph.

God willing.
