DID Press: Former Pakistan special representative for Afghanistan, Asif Durrani, has criticized what he described as the international community’s “double standards” regarding statements about the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that similar positions by the United States and Iran receive different reactions.

Durrani, in a post, questioned the contrasting global responses to remarks about control of the strategic waterway, saying that statements by Washington and Tehran on the issue have not been treated equally.
He wrote that when US President Donald Trump says the United States would control the Strait of Hormuz and charge for it, the reaction is limited, while similar remarks from Iran immediately become a major controversy.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy routes, with a significant share of global oil and gas shipments passing through the waterway.
