Taliban Orders Crackdown on Fuel Hoarding in Herat

DID Press: Taliban authorities in Herat Province have ordered stricter action against fuel hoarding, warning that legal measures will be taken against traders who stockpile petroleum products as officials seek to curb rising fuel prices.

Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban governor of Herat, made the remarks during a meeting with members of the province’s petroleum importers’ union, stressing the need for closer cooperation between authorities and the private sector to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel and improve public access to fuel.

Islamjar said fuel prices should decline in local markets and warned that anyone found hoarding petroleum products would face legal action in accordance with applicable regulations.

He also urged fuel traders to take the country’s economic hardships into account and cooperate in stabilizing prices and ensuring adequate fuel supplies.

The governor called on businesses to support the public during difficult economic conditions and avoid practices that could further increase the cost of living for residents.
