Taliban Reject Pakistan’s Security Allegations

DID Press: Taliban has rejected Pakistan’s accusations that militant groups operating from Afghanistan are responsible for Pakistan’s security challenges, urging Islamabad not to attribute its internal security crisis to Kabul.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistan’s insecurity is rooted in long-standing domestic challenges and is unrelated to the Taliban’s return to power. He stressed that the Taliban remains committed to preventing Afghan territory from being used against any other country.

His remarks came after Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) foreign ministers’ meeting, urged member states to press the Taliban to fulfill its counterterrorism commitments and eliminate what he described as militant safe havens in Afghanistan. Dar said threats originating from Afghan territory remain among Pakistan’s most serious security concerns.

Responding to the allegations, Mujahid reiterated that the Taliban does not allow any group to use Afghanistan as a base for attacks against other countries and again denied the presence of terrorist organizations inside the country.

The Taliban has consistently rejected Islamabad’s claims regarding militant activity in Afghanistan. However, multiple reports by international organizations have said that several armed groups continue to maintain a presence and operate inside the country.
