Taliban Detain American Citizen Over Alleged Christian Proselytizing

DID Press: Taliban security forces have detained a 44-year-old U.S. citizen in Mazar-i-Sharif, accusing him of promoting Christianity and engaging in alleged missionary activities, according to local reports.

The detainee has been identified as Todd Adam Baker, who was reportedly arrested during a security operation at his residence in Balkh province before being taken to an undisclosed location.

As of now, Taliban authorities in Balkh and official spokespeople have not issued a public statement regarding Baker’s detention, his current status, or the location where he is being held.

Local sources claim Baker had lived in northern Afghanistan for nearly a decade, operating under the cover of commercial and business activities while allegedly carrying out Christian missionary work. These claims have not been independently verified.
