Herat–Khaf Railway Cargo Transfers Increase as Trade Route Expands

DID Press: Cargo transportation through the Rozanak Railway Station on the Herat–Khaf Railway route has increased significantly in the first four months of the current year, with officials reporting the transfer of 438,000 tonnes of goods through the corridor.

Ghulam Ali Mohammadi, head of the Rozanak railway operations, said the route is mainly used for transporting cement, steel products, petroleum materials and other commercial goods.

He added that the railway line has also created direct employment opportunities for around 300 people since the start of its operations.

Official figures show that 642,000 tonnes of cargo were transported through the route last year. Officials say, based on the current growth trend, the volume of goods moved through the corridor could surpass last year’s record by the end of the year.

The Herat–Khaf railway corridor is considered a key trade route linking Afghanistan with regional markets and plays an important role in expanding transit and commercial connectivity between Afghanistan and Iran.
