DID Press: Afghanistan’s national futsal team suffered a difficult start to the Continental Futsal Championship 2026, losing 6-1 to tournament hosts Thailand in their opening match held on Sunday evening in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Afghanistan produced a disciplined defensive display in the first half and conceded only one goal, but Thailand increased the pressure after the break and scored five more goals to secure a convincing victory.
Afghanistan managed to find the net once during the match, but the goal was not enough to change the outcome as Thailand maintained control until the final whistle.
The Continental Futsal Championship 2026 is being held in Thailand with the participation of Afghanistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia and New Zealand. Afghanistan will face Vietnam in its next fixture as it looks to recover from the opening defeat.
