Pakistan Grants Humanitarian Entry to Critically Ill Afghan Infant

DID Press: Pakistani authorities on Sunday allowed a critically ill Afghan infant and the child’s parents to cross the Torkham Border Crossing on humanitarian grounds so the child could receive urgent medical treatment.

According to officials, the family had traveled from Jalalabad to the border, where permission to enter Pakistan was granted because of the infant’s critical medical condition.

After crossing into Pakistan, the child was transferred to Hayatabad Medical Complex, where doctors immediately began treatment.

Pakistani authorities said the decision was made solely on humanitarian grounds to ensure the infant received timely medical care, adding that every effort was being made to save the child’s life.
